The proud and carved silhouette formed by its three mounts (whose tallest one, Otemanu, rises at 727 m), is also complemented by the legendary Pahia. Indeed, the generous nature gifted the island with a lagoon with translucent waters that is a breathtaking splendor that is surrounded by a cluster of gorgeous islets. One of these motus hosts the airport site and others gather luxurious hotels. The exception is motu Toopu. Indeed, it features 100 m-high hill, with sonic blocks that are called Hiro's Bells. The pier of the main village of Vaitape is served by the unique pass of the island, Teavanui, that is edged by the the charming islet of Motu-Tapu, that was once used occasionally as a shelter by famous explorer, Paul-Emile Victor. In Vaitape, the main square was named Place Alain Gerbault because of the presence there of the singular grave, featuring three levels made of pebble, of this illustrious navigator who had made of the island his adoptive land. Bora-Bora airport is connected to the village pier by way of complimentary sea shuttles that are put at the disposal of air passengers by the company at the arrival/departure of each Air Tahiti flight. Bora-Bora is served daily by several Air Tahiti flights featuring ATR42 (48 seats) and ATR72 (66 seats) airplanes. The duration of a direct flight is 50-55 mns.
