DeSIRE & DeFINE

Our discussions have led to the present proposal for an industry-led Integrated Project on "Dependable Systems and Information infrastructures - Research and Exploitation" (DeSIRE), allied to a Network of Excellence on "Dependability Foundations for Information infrastructures - Network of Excellence" (DeFINE). Membership of the former will be largely industrial, of the second, mainly academic, though it is intended that the IP and NoE be planned and will work together closely, and have a significant joint membership.

The plan is that DeSIRE and DeFINE will be "integrational", in that they will contribute to the goal of achieving a coherent overall dependability programme in FP6 through both their nature and aims, and via overlapping activities that they hope to set up with other IPs and NoEs working in particular application domains, such as embedded systems, and on particular dependability-related technologies, such as security protocols.
